NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A new judge has been appointed to hear Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White’s argument that the judge who presided over the trial which led to his removal from office.

Hamilton County Judge Steven Nation this week granted White’s request for a new judge, and the case was re-assigned to another county judge, Daniel Pfleging.

The Indianapolis Star reports White argued that Nation was biased against him because of their dealings when White chaired the Hamilton County Republican Party. Nation says he had no bias, but must grant White’s request under state law.

White also has filed documents saying his attorney didn’t mount any defense to protect him from his February 2012 conviction on voter fraud and other counts.

A hearing is set for Aug. 15.
