County Hosts Tax Sale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Scores of bidders came to the Allen County Recorder's property tax sale Wednesday looking for a bargain.

The auction, combines more than 700 homes and properties that are being their taxes for than a year and a half.

Some according to deputy treasurer, Bill Royce, the sale is a way to make a profit by purchasing the lien – that if the owner decides to bring it current. The property owner wants to redeem the lien they have repay the buyer. 

Others would like to get property or properties at well below market prices.

Royce says his office seeks to work with owners to pay down their bill – right up to the day before the sale.
