The FAA says a small plane from Smyrna, TN., has crashed in Gary about a mile south of Gary/Chicago International Airport. The Lake County coroner’s office confirmed it was called to the scene but had no other information to release. A police spokesman says the scene is “chaotic” but had no other immediate details about the crash.
