Delaware County Fair Board Members Cancel Hog Wrestling

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): There won't be hog wrestling at this year's Delaware County Fair after online petitioners complained that the event was cruel.

Fair board members voted to cancel the annual event during an angry and sometimes emotional Wednesday night meeting. They said they may try an online crowd-funding effort to raise the $12,000 that will be lost by ending the hog wrestling event.

Although none of the protesters showed up at the meeting, board members pointed out that picketers could show up at the fair if hog wrestling was to continue as planned.

Hog wrestling was a county fair event from the past that had been revived in the past seven years.
