Driver Injured in Crash on W. Jefferson

A driver was hurt last night in a crash on West Jefferson at South Bend Drive, on Fort Wayne’s southwest side.  It happened just before 10 PM, when a driver reportedly tried to pass another vehicle on and lost control, ending up pinned against the guardrail.  The driver of that car was trapped and had to be removed by firefighters.  He was taken to the  hospital in critical condition but was later upgraded to serious condition.  The eastbound lanes of West Jefferson were closed for a time while crews worked to clear the wreck.  Police say weather may have been a factor in the crash.
