Former Caretaker Sentenced in Neglect Case

It’s a year-and-a-half behind bars for Denzel Benson, after he left a disabled man in his van while he went to play basketball.

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, Benson, a former driver and caretaker at Anthony Wayne Services, was charged with neglect of a disabled person and he pleaded guilty in January.

The 1.5 year sentence was suspended and Benson will be on probation during that time.

In March, Benson left 53-year-old Jerry White in his parked van during a reported 83 degree day while he played basketball.
