WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Former Whitley County auditor, 44-year-old Jenny McGuire, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in jail for using county funds for personal use.

According to the Journal Gazette, charges of theft and official misconduct were filed on Monday. The charges stem from McGuire allegedly stealing more than $100,000 from Whitley County and $25,000 from the Indiana County Auditors Association. However, 18 months for official misconduct was suspended.

A Circuit Court Judge for Whitley County ordered McGuire to report to the Whitley County Jail at 6:00p.m. Friday and agreed to a request that McGuire enter work release, if there is room for her.

McGuire could be free within two years.

McGuire took the money by using county credit cards for purchases and cash advances.
