FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council is considering a proposal that would protect City employees making secret recordings.

There’s currently a law on the books that says a city employee caught secretly recording another city employee can be fired, but last night Council member John Crawford introduced an amendment to that law. Our partners in news at 21Alive report that the bill would protect employees doing so from termination.

Crawford pointed out that it was an employee’s secret recordings that unveiled wrongdoing in former City Clerk Sandy Kennedy’s office last fall, and added that Indiana law says it’s perfectly legal to record a conversation as long as one of the involved parties knows about it.
