Fort Wayne Community Schools Board resisting new ISTEP test

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There could be a showdown looming between Fort Wayne Community Schools and the State Department of Education.

The state has ordered that Fort Wayne Community Schools administer pilot tests for next year’s ISTEP, according to the Journal Gazette, after the district was chosen at random. Superintendent Wendy Robinson says the district found out about the order just ten days ahead of when testing should begin, and officials had problems with that.

Southwest Allen County, Northwest Allen County, and Adams Central Community Schools were also chosen to administer the tests, but the Fort Wayne board will meet tomorrow to decide whether or not they’ll go through with the testing or challenge the state’s order.
