Fort Wayne Man Arrested On Child Exploitation And Sex Offender Registration Charges

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — A Fort Wayne man was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into alleged possession of child sexual abuse material and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The investigation began on May 7, 2026, after the Fort Wayne Police Department received a complaint from the Internet Crime Complaint Center through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The complaint involved allegations of possession of child pornography.

Detective Sergeant James Haupert of the Crimes Against Persons Section (CAPS) was assigned to investigate the case. During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 33-year-old Brendan Donald Chivington of Fort Wayne.

On June 3, detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Section executed a search warrant at Chivington’s residence. Investigators seized several electronic devices and other items as evidence.

According to police, an examination of the seized devices revealed the presence of child sexual abuse material. Investigators also determined that Chivington had allegedly violated Indiana law by failing to register as a sex or violent offender as required.

Chivington was taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Jail.

He faces preliminary charges of:

Child exploitation; possession of child sex abuse material, a Level 5 felony.
Failure to register as a sex or violent offender, a Level 5 felony.

Formal charges will be determined by the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. All criminal defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
