Fort Wayne man claims $2-million Powerball prize

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man who won $2-million playing Powerball last week has claimed his prize.

Rudolf Serna says his decision to buy a Powerball ticket at the Circle G Food Mart on West Jefferson last Friday was a spur-of-the-moment thing, but it certainly paid off.

He matched the first five numbers on the ticket, but not the Powerball, in the July 2nd drawing. That normally pays out $1-million, but Serna paid the extra dollar when he bought the ticket for a “Power Play” that doubled his winnings.

He says his new situation “hasn’t sunk in yet,” but adds he doesn’t want the money to change his life too much. He does say he’ll cut back on how many hours he works, and spend more time with his wife at home.
