Fort Wayne rainfall breaks 1918 record

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 98-year-old record has fallen.

The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana says the city of Fort Wayne got 0.77″ of rain Tuesday, breaking a single-day rainfall record set in 1918 of 0.66″.

A strong but brief line of storms pushed through the area Tuesday afternoon, bringing the large amount of rainfall in a short amount of time, with the heaviest amount falling at about 4:45pm.

There’s a 40% chance for more rain and thunderstorms Wednesday.
