Fort Wayne Woman Charged in Deadly Double Shooting Accepts Plea Deal, Will Cooperate with Prosecutors

(WOWO News)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — A Fort Wayne woman charged in a deadly double shooting last year has agreed to a plea deal that will dismiss all charges against her in exchange for cooperation with prosecutors, court records show.

Quenecia L. Gaylor, 38, was facing charges of murder, felony murder and attempted burglary in the June 2024 shooting deaths of 39-year-old Anisha Denise Jackson and 28-year-old Tornor Dejuan Doby. Under the plea agreement reached Tuesday, all charges against Gaylor will be dismissed if she pleads guilty to an added charge of assisting a criminal.

The agreement requires Gaylor to provide full cooperation with any ongoing or future investigations related to the case and to testify truthfully in any criminal or civil proceedings, according to court documents.

Gaylor had been scheduled to go to trial next month. She is now set to be sentenced Jan. 23 by Allen Superior Court Judge David Zent.

The plea deal comes months after co-defendant Shan Ford Jr. went to trial on similar charges. Jurors in October were unable to reach a verdict on the murder charge related to Doby’s death and found Ford not guilty of felony murder in Jackson’s death, as well as not guilty of attempted burglary. Ford is scheduled to be retried on the remaining murder charge in May.

According to earlier court filings, the shooting stemmed from a confrontation tied to alleged vandalism at a salon on Fort Wayne’s southeast side. Both victims were shot and killed during the encounter.

Prosecutors have not publicly detailed how Gaylor’s cooperation may factor into the upcoming retrial. Authorities say the plea agreement ensures her continued availability as a witness if the case proceeds.

Gaylor’s plea and sentencing hearing will determine whether the agreement is formally accepted by the court.

The case has drawn significant attention locally since the shooting, which left two people dead and prompted a lengthy investigation. Details of the plea agreement were first reported by 21Alive.
