Funeral today for fallen FWPD officer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Funeral services are today for a fallen Fort Wayne police officer.

Services for 50-year-old David Tinsley will be held at 11am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Tinsley died a week ago after suffering a medical event after chasing a suspect on foot. FWPD spokesman Michael Joyner tells our Partners in News at ABC 21 the force is hurting:

“When we say this is a brotherhood, it is. It’s a family, it goes beyond anything you can imagine, as we celebrate the life of David and mourn his passing.

Burial will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery.

As a result of the funeral, Jefferson Boulevard will be closed to all traffic from Main to Broadway starting at 9am and lasting until around 1pm. Detour routes will be posted.
