FW Man Arrested, Improvised Cannons Seized

A Fort Wayne man was arrested after police raided his home after receiving noise complaints from neighbors.  The Journal-Gazette reports that during the raid at the home on Woodway Drive near Reed and Stellhorn Roads, police said they found a meth lab, along with meth ingredients, a small marijuana-growing operation, ingredients for making fireworks, an explosive device and nine homemade cannons. One of the cannons had multiple barrels, which were all loaded.  Officers serving the warrant arrested 51-year-old Edward Chmiel.

During their investigation, police say they discovered a YouTube video titled “King Ed’s Fireworks,“ that featured Chmiel and other men blowing up objects on the Woodway Drive property.

Chmiel faces preliminary charges including marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.  He also faces five felony charges which include: dealing meth, manufacturing meth, dealing marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of a destructive device. Chmiel was held without bail following his arrest.
