FWPD Officer Retires Before Disciplinary Meeting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A veteran police officer has retired – just before a department disciplinary meeting.  

Sgt. Fred Rogers, a 33-year, member of the Fort Wayne Police department stepped down Thursday.

According to a News-Sentinel report, the decision came as he was scheduled to answer allegations he worked another job while on police duty.  Similar cases resulted in six month suspensions.

The article cited 23 other disciplinary cases and 13 suspensions against Rogers. It also listed three commendations.

Rogers' case has been closed with and he's eligible for full retirement benefits.
