FWPD to Install Licence Plate Scanners

Coming soon to the Fort Wayne Police, cruisers with license plate scanners.  Fort Wayne Police say they’ll have two cars equipped with devices.  The technology will help pinpoint criminal activity.  Thanks a to $56 thousand dollar government grant, the scanners will search for stolen vehicles, suspended drivers and unpaid traffic violations.  Other serious crimes like homicide and robbery will also be targeted by the system.  The scanners should be in place by May.
