Gov. Pence Makes Trip To New York To Attract Business

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Governor Mike Pence led a group of Hoosier business leaders to New York with the intent to lure new business to Indiana.

“Indiana’s business climate continues to attract investment from around the Midwest and the nation,” said Pence. They’re meeting with location advisers, developers and other executives to discuss ongoing opportunities for relocating to Indiana. This is the states ninth annual trip to the area to promote the low-cost, low-tax business friendly climate.

In June, CNBC ranked the Hoosier State 1st for cost of doing business, while New York, New Jersey and Connecticut ranked 44th, 43th and 47th, respectively. And in May, Indiana was recognized 1st in the Midwest and 6th nationwide as the best state for business by Chief Executive magazine. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut each ranked in the bottom ten.

The delegation included:

Governor Mike Pence
Victor Smith, Indiana Secretary of Commerce
Kent Anderson, IEDC
Don Babcock, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO)
Fred Bean, Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership
Jim Finan, Indiana Michigan Power
Matt Hall, South Central Indiana Economic Development Group
Trevor Lane, IEDC
Bill Petranoff, Duke Energy
Jeff Quyle, Hoosier Energy
Susan Reed, Indiana Municipal Power Agency
Erin Schneider, IEDC
Jim Staton, IEDC
Kelly Nicholl, IEDC

This job-hunting mission comes amid the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s (IEDC) ongoing marketing campaign, A State That Works, which is designed to draw attention to the numerous reasons why Indiana is a state that works for business.
