INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Gov. Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, are encouraging Indiana residents to tour the governor's dressed-up residence during the month of December.

First lady Karen Pence says a visit to the governor's residence to see the sprawling building's holiday decorations will leave people inspired to spread the holiday spirit to others around the state. 

The house along Meridian Street on the north side of Indianapolis has more than 20 rooms and sits on more than six acres. The mansion was built in 1928. 

The Indiana Christmas Tree Growers Association is donating two trees for holiday use in the governor's residence. 

Tours of the governor's residence, available by advance reservation only, are typically offered on Tuesdays and last about an hour. There are nine tours of the residence planned during December.
