Hospital to Host Ebola Response Drills

ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO): An area hospital is ramping up its response to Ebola.

Cameron Memorial Hospital will conduct a series of drills Wednesday  simulating a patient with Ebola-like symptoms.

The hospital has been working with the Centers for Disease Control and the Indiana Department of Health to prepare for cases of would-be exposure to Ebola.

There's no threat. It's all proactive. Officials say they want to see how well the staff, including the EMS crews understand the approved protocols. They are focusing on wearing and removing protective clothing and equipment.

Hospital spokesperson Laura Lutterbeck says, “tomorrow's drill is going to be basic in our takeaway. Did those certain elements occur properly. And if not, do we need to double back and practice again.”

The drills are scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. and involve both the emergency room and the community urgent care clinic.
