Huntington TEA Party Founder Involved in Michigan Statehouse Scandal

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WOWO): A Michigan state lawmaker accused in a statehouse scandal in her state was a founder of the Huntington TEA Party.

Two newspapers in Michigan identify Cindy Gamrat as the founder and former leader of the Huntington Taxed Enough Already Party. In fact, she wrote letters to The Journal Gazette in 2009 that identified her as a Huntington resident.

Gamrat, who now lives in southwest Michigan's Allegan County, is accused of having an extramarital affair with state representative Todd Courser. Both Courser and Gamrat have not confirmed or denied an extramariatal affair occured.

The chairman of the Allegan County Republican Party is calling on Gamrat to resign from her recently won Michigan House seat.
