Indiana Ceremony Recalls Victims of Sept. 11 Terror Attacks

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana's governor and first lady joined in a moment of silence during a ceremony marking the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The ceremony Friday morning inside Indianapolis International Airport's passenger terminal included an honor guard posting the American flag and a performance by the Ben Davis High School choir.

Gov. Mike Pence recalled being in Washington as a congressman at the time of the 2001 attacks, saying the sights and sounds of that day remain as fresh to him as if they had happened yesterday. He says the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks and their families should be remembered with prayers.

The airport had a section of steel beam from the World Trade Center on display.
