Indiana Children Hit by Bus Ran in Front of It

TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A central Indiana school superintendent says two siblings struck by a bus apparently ran in front of the vehicle.

The Columbus Republic reports 9-year-old Aiyanna Moffitt of Taylorsville was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis for treatment. Her brother, 6-year-old Brian Moffitt, was treated for cuts and bruises at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. Superintendent John Quick says it appears the school bus had completed its stop, and was retracting its stop arm and about to depart when the two children, fearing they had missed the bus, ran out in front of it.

The bus carrying 35 children had a substitute driver, 23-year-old Dylan Graham of Columbus. Quick says Graham had been a substitute driver for the school corporation since Thanksgiving without any issues.
