INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indiana will celebrate its state park system’s centennial year this weekend by charging park visitors just 10 cents to enter any of the state’s parks.

Admission at most state park properties normally costs $7 for in-state vehicles. But this Saturday and Sunday the admission will be a dime at all 24 of Indiana’s state’s parks and its eight reservoir properties.

That’s how much it cost to enter Indiana’s state parks when the first of them were created in 1916.

State Parks Director Dan Bortner says the special admission fee is “a great way to celebrate” the park system’s centennial while also encouraging Hoosiers to visit a state park and enjoy a day outdoors.

Visitors with annual passes or a Golden Hoosier Passport can still use those for admission this weekend.
