Indiana State Fair Makes History

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO):  History will be made this weekend at the Indiana State Fair.

85 contestants will compete starting today to become the next Miss Indiana State Fair.  Usually the pageant would take place during the fair's final weekend, but in 2013 the State Fair Board moved the pageant to the beginning of January to allow the contestants more time to prepare for a more memorable experience.

The contestants come from counties all across the state.  A panel of three judges will determine the new Miss Indiana State Fair based on an interview, formal wear and professional wear.  The panel will then narrow it down to 10 contestants and will choose one person to be the new queen, who will represent the fair at more than 35 pubic appearances throughout the year.
