Indiana Trooper Pleads Not Guilty to Forgery Charges

             INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ An Indiana State Police sergeant is denying forgery charges that allege he faked purchase prices on vehicle titles so he could pay lower sales taxes.

             Sgt. Rick Reed entered a not guilty plea six felony counts during an initial appearance in Marion Superior Court in Indianapolis on Tuesday.

             WISH-TV reports the 53-year-old Westfield man was released on bond.

             Reed was placed on unpaid administrative leave after his arrest Friday. He is a 24-year veteran of the state police and was working in human resources at the agency’s headquarters in downtown Indianapolis.
