Indianapolis to name park after author Dan Wakefield

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Indianapolis is naming one of its parks in honor of Indiana-born author and journalist Dan Wakefield.

Former U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, who attended Indianapolis’ Shortridge High School with Wakefield, will join Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett for Wednesday’s ribbon cutting ceremony for the Dan Wakefield Park.

The Indianapolis-born author is best-known for his 1970 novel “Going All the Way.”

That book is set in 1954 and follows the lives of two young Korean War veterans returning to their Indianapolis homes. It was adapted into a 1997 movie that starred Ben Affleck and Jeremy Davies.
