Investigation continues into local 911 outage

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Officials are still looking into an outage that left Fort Wayne without 911 service for a little under an hour Friday.

The outage started at about 7pm and impacted several counties around the state, including Allen County.

The director of the statewide 911 board tells our Partners in News at ABC 21 the outage actually started at the Fort Wayne headquarters due to system overload. Then the backup system in Indianapolis was overloaded, and that went on to impact several other call centers.

An investigation is underway to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
