IPFW Faculty Suggests Solution to Balance Budget

FORT WAYNE, Ind (WOWO): IPFW’s Faculty Senate met Wednesday and approved a resolution that proposes dipping into the school’s reserve fund in order to balance the university’s $8.4 million deficit.

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, IPFW has about $18 to $20 million in reserve. That’s about 9-10 percent of the school’s $200 million budget.

The members of the Faculty Senate who approved the resolution believe more time needs to be put in before cutting back, but the administration is reluctant to use one-time funds and instead wants to continue to trim back.

The administration takes suggestions from IPFW’s Faculty Senate, but the group doesn’t have the ability to make formal changes.
