IPFW Receives $1.1M Grant

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne has received a five-year, $1.1 million federal grant aimed at helping first-generation college students graduate in no more than six years.

The TRIO grant will aid 140 IPFW students a year by motivating and supporting students from less advantaged backgrounds. TRIO programs provide mentoring, motivation, and encouragement, as well as personal counseling, financial guidance, tutoring and other support necessary for educational access and retention of first-generation, low-income, and disabled students.

This is a reauthorization of a grant IPFW received five years ago.
