FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A New York man that authorities say tried to join ISIS has ties to Fort Wayne.

22-year-old Ali Saleh was charged last September with attempting to provide support to a foreign terrorist organization, based on tweets, flight plans and what he’s said to police in the past.

Now the Journal Gazette reports he used to live in Fort Wayne. Federal agents apparently interviewed the man at a Fort Wayne hotel, where he told them he had been living with two co-workers in town since December 2014, while also admitting he planned on heading to Yemen to join a militia training camp.

He’s pled “not guilty” and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
