Kokomo City Hall to Get Facelift

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) – A central Indiana city hall caught in a 1980s time warp is getting a makeover.

Workers are installing colored panels on the red brick exterior of Kokomo’s City Hall, adding new landscaping and changing the building’s central atrium and public meeting rooms in the first upgrades since the building opened almost 30 years ago.

Mayor Greg Goodnight tells the Kokomo Tribune the project is designed to show pride in the city’s public spaces. He says he hopes the work helps make Kokomo more attractive to potential residents.

Goodnight notes that the city also has built or remodeled five fire stations in the last six years and has improved its streets and parks.

The City Hall work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
