Man Accused of Committing 24 Robberies in Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A 32-year-old man has been arrested on accusations he robbed two dozen businesses across central Indiana.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says investigators were conducting surveillance Monday night on Jeffery Wilson Jr. when they saw what they believed to be an armed robbery at an auto parts store. Investigators say it appeared Wilson outstretched his arm as if he was pointing a handgun before walking behind the service counter and exiting the shop.

Police say Wilson was arrested on preliminary charges of robbery and criminal confinement. They say he also could face federal charges.

Investigators and federal agents have been monitoring Wilson for more than a year. They believe he has been responsible for 24 robberies in 10 different cities since November 2013.

It wasn't immediately known if Wilson has an attorney.
