FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man was found dead in an embankment in Fort Wayne on Wednesday morning.

At about 8:20 a .m. Wednesday, police were called to the 6400 block of Fairfield Avenue. When crews arrived, they found an unresponsive man down a steep embankment, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fort Wayne Police Department said his death appears to be suspicious by nature.

An autopsy is set for Wednesday to determine the cause and manner of death.

The death is under investigation.
