Man Hit By Car On Meyer Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car.

The pedestrian was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder while walking northbound on Meyer Road, north of New Haven Avenue at around 8:35 p.m. on Friday.  A Nissan Pathfinder was also traveling northbound and didn't see the man in the street.  Witnesses say the pedestrian was hard to see because he was wearing all dark clothing.  It was later discovered he was wearing headphones and may not of heard the traffic approaching.

The driver said he never saw the victim before the impact.  Police say there's no reason to believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but investigators conducted tests on the driver per protocol.

The incident is still being investigated.
