WASHINGTON (AP) – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio is proposing a bill that would exempt America’s Olympic medal winners from having to pay taxes on the cash prizes they receive from the U.S. Olympic Committee. The Florida lawmaker says the athletes’ success should be celebrated, not taxed. The USOC says a gold medalist gets $25,000, a silver medalist $15,000 and a bronze winner $10,000.
