COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP): A state panel is struggling to move forward on a way to change how Ohio draws political maps.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that a committee of the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission was scheduled to meet Thursday but canceled its gathering.

Fred Mills, who is heading the committee, says he called off the meeting after realizing there was no agreement, particularly among Republican lawmakers, on how to proceed. The study group is tasked with finding a fair process for drawing state legislative and U.S. congressional lines.

The newspaper reports that the sticking points include how many minority votes would be required to approve a map and how to deal with an impasse.

Mills says he hopes to meet again in October but is awaiting word from GOP leaders.
