Ohioan’s Death Unsolved 3 Years After She Vanished

FAIRFIELD, Ohio (AP) _ A southwest Ohio woman's family has retained a retired detective to look for answers about her death that elude them three years after her disappearance and more than a year after her skeletal remains were found in Indiana.

Twenty-two-year-old art student Katelyn Markham disappeared from her Fairfield home on Aug. 14, 2011. Her skeletal remains were found in April 2013 in a wooded area in Cedar Grove.

The Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News (http://bit.ly/1oKAS8V ) reports Indiana State Police are investigating the homicide case but say they haven't received new leads in months.

Her father, David Markham, says he became frustrated with the lack of progress and asked a former Butler County cold case detective to investigate, bringing fresh eyes to the case. They're hoping that will lead to more answers.
