INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says he believes the tax cut package that the Republican-controlled Legislature has adopted is better than what he first proposed.
 
  Pence told reporters Monday that the state budget approved by lawmakers early Saturday is the “right tax relief” even though the 5 percent income tax cut phased in over four years is half of the 10 percent cut he had pushed for since last year’s gubernatorial campaign.
 
  Pence disputed arguments from Democrats that the tax cut is too small and won’t stimulate the state’s economy because the first reduction doesn’t begin until 2015.
 
  The governor says the income tax cut and immediate repeal of the state’s inheritance tax will encourage the business investment needed to create more jobs.
