Police: 3-year-old Shot at Northern Indiana Home

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) – Police say a 3-year-old boy was injured in a shooting at a northern Indiana home.

Elkhart police Sgt. Chris Snyder says emergency crews were called to the home Thursday night, with police officers giving him first aid before medics arrived and took him to a South Bend hospital. Snyder said he didn't immediately know the severity of the boy's injuries, but that plans were to transfer him to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Snyder tells The Elkhart Truth (http://bit.ly/1xafeQh ) that investigators were working to determine the circumstances of the shooting. It wasn't immediately clear whether the boy lived at the house.

Snyder said there wasn't any danger for the neighborhood on the city's south side.
