Police Chief York in Washington for Meeting on Reducing Gun Violence

FORT WAYNE, Ind (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police Chief Rusty York is in Washington D.C. today representing Fort Wayne at an event aimed at reducing gun violence.

Chief York is a member of the Police Executive Research Forum. Members of the Forum were invited to Washington to hear from Vice President Joe Biden and Attorney General Eric Holder. They’ll be calling on Congress to pass measures to reduce gun violence and will highlight the importance of proposed gun safety measures to the law enforcement community.

“I appreciate Chief York’s leadership and commitment to ensuring that our City is as safe as possible,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. “It’s vital that we come together as a community and partner with our police department.”
