Preservation Conference to Highlight Efforts in Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP): Kokomo will take the spotlight during a three-day conference that will highlight efforts to preserve historical landmarks across Indiana.

The “Preserving Historic Places” conference will be held in the City of Firsts from Wednesday through Friday.

Suzanne Stanis of Indiana Landmarks says the conference will offer educational sessions, workshops and tours of Kokomo landmarks, including the Howard County Courthouse and the Seiberling Mansion.

The workshops will include sessions on restoring historic glass and plaster walls and uses for historical school buildings.

Stanis says she hopes participants see Kokomo as a model for communities of similar size.
