NORTHEAST INDIANA, (WOWO) – A hearing has been set for this evening to discuss plans to tap into a northwest Ohio aquifer that serves several northeast Indiana counties.

Our partners in news at ABC 21 report the mayor from the town of Pioneer is looking to sell water from the Michindoh Aquifer to several Ohio communities.

But the move is controversial, as advocacy groups from several states worry doing so won’t leave enough water for their use in the years ahead.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has scheduled the meeting for today at 6 p.m. at Fayette Local School in Fulton County.
