FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Reverend Al Sharpton is coming to Fort Wayne.

The vocal and controversial civil rights activist and talk show host will be speaking at Come As You Are Church on South Anthony Boulevard in Fort Wayne on Sunday, September 6th.

Pastor Carlton Lynch says his appearance won't be political, even though Sharpton has reportedly planned to push black churches to lobby in favor of the Iran nuclear deal. “Because I believe that he can be a help to our community” Pastor Lynch told WOWO News. “He can really try to redirect young people into a more positive direction.”

Pastor Lynch says the church is trying to get Republican Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson to speak at the church. “I don't believe that one person has the answer” Lynch says.

Doors open at 5 PM for Sharpton's appearance at Come As You Are Church on Sunday, September 6th.
