Saint Mary’s College to Create Task Force on Sexual Assault

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – The president of a Roman Catholic women's college in northern Indiana has announced she's creating a task force on sexual assault and sexual misconduct.

St. Mary's College President Carol Ann Mooney said Wednesday that those are problems facing students on college campuses throughout the country, including the college in South Bend. The announcement comes after the April 9 screening on campus of the recently released CNN documentary “The Hunting Ground.''

Mooney says she met privately with students Tuesday to listen to their thoughts on the documentary.

She says expects the task force to meet regularly beginning in the fall. She says the task force will recommend ways to improve efforts to prevent sexual assault and sexual misconduct and to assist and support student survivors of sexual assault.
