Service Honors Slain Indiana Aid Worker

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — More than 50 people gathered for a public prayer service to honor an Indiana aid worker who was killed by Islamic State militants.

The Indianapolis Star reports people offered Muslim prayers for Abdul-Rahman Kassig at the Indiana Interchurch Center in Indianapolis. The service was one of three planned this weekend.

Kassig was captured October 1st, 2013, while delivering aid in Syria through a relief organization he founded. Kassig's parents, Ed and Paula Kassig of Indianapolis, had issued numerous appeals for his release over the past month. The White House confirmed his death last Sunday.
