State Auditor Posts Employee Spending Online

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Some purchases made by state employees using tax dollars are now easier for the public to track.

State Auditor Suzanne Crouch is releasing data on individual purchases made by employees who have been issued state charge cards.

Charge cards are issued to employees who regularly travel on state business, or those authorized to make purchases outside the normal procurement process.

Crouch's office says in a release that those purchases will be posted to a “data portal” on the auditor's website. For each transaction, the auditor's office will release a dollar amount, the agency that spent the money, as well as the merchant who received payment.

Crouch in a statement said it's important for government officials to use technology to increase transparency.
