INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Same-sex couples hoping to get married in Indiana will have to wait until the U.S. Supreme Court addresses the question of whether gay marriage bans are constitutional.
The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago on Monday stayed its Sept. 4 ruling that Indiana's ban is unconstitutional. The court also found Wisconsin's gay-marriage ban unconstitutional, but that state has not requested a stay.
Gay marriage is on the U.S. Supreme Court's Sept. 29 agenda for a closed-door conference, but it's unclear if the justices will decide then whether to take up the issue.
