Stolen South Milford Machine Gun Found in Van Wert…via Decatur

SOUTH MILFORD, Ind. (WOWO): A prized machine gun that was stolen from a LaGrange County community has been recovered in Ohio.

On October 29th, someone brazenly backed into a display case in South Milford and smashed the glass surrounding an 1895 decommissioned Colt automatic machine gun. 

A break in the case didn't come from a tip, but rather in Decatur, Indiana, where a suspect was caught trying to take a monument in a similar manner the machine gun was taken. That suspect, Jason Saam, confessed to taking the machine gun because he was dealing with issues his life.

He led investigators to his residence in Van Wert, Ohio, where the items were recovered. The machine gun is back on display in South Milford.
