Threats At Universities, Including 1 in Indiana

Valparaiso University warned students on its website and increased security after receiving a vague threat through graffiti.

The Times of Munster reports the threat claimed “dangerous and criminal activity” would occur on the northwest Indiana campus during the university’s daily chapel break period. The message provided no specific details.

The alert said additional security would be visible during yesterday’s mid-day break.

University spokeswoman Nicole Niemi says regular activities would continue as planned.

The school says the FBI and local authorities found nothing suspicious. Indiana Homeland Security spokesman John Erickson declined to say if any other institutions had issued similar alerts.

It wasn’t clear whether the Valparaiso threat was related to bomb threats Friday that forced evacuations at the University of Texas and North Dakota State University.
